High Fidelity

Who the hell decided to let it snow today, April the fucking twelfth? I may be Jack Frost here but even I know when winter should just give up and pack it in. Hint: today is such a day.

It was snowing in my dream too, albeit a lot heavier. I was stuck in a racist movie, something created by a KKK sympathizer and set at the turn of the century (so the liner notes in my head told me, anyway; I couldn't see much resemblance). It involved a black guy morphing into a low-grade horror movie monster and a ritual that involved cutting knees. I was a Japanese poseur, a Last Samurai kind of elitist who picked fake chopsticks out of my teriyaki salmon and rice. Eventually the snow whited out all the other characters, so I went outside and shuffled garbage bags around on the sidewalk until I woke up. Late for class again, I should note.

Recently finished both Zeta Gundam and Gankutsuou, one of which ended too abruptly and the other of which spun 5 minutes of loose ends into an entire boring episode. I should probably make some snotty comment about the original Monte Cristo not ending with a mech battle between Edmond and Fernand, but I'll chalk that up to anime being anime. More unforgivable... by removing the Count's more holy motivations you leave the essential message of his vengeance blurred, and I'm not entirely sure what replaces it is any more coherent than mild bishounen homosexuality. Still, a quality series.
